Bonjour, my name is Yimin and I’m pursuing my master in International Development at Sciences Po Paris, concentrating on global economy and environmental sustainability. For Summer 2021, I’m looking for a 3-to-6-month internship at a company/organization dedicated to improving environmental sustainability through nature-based solutions in fields such as decarbonization, soil health and regenerative agriculture. To strengthen my capacity in system-level thinking and operation, I would love to learn from job functions like research, project management, operation or anything that will get me close to the core mechanism of a company/organization in sustainability.
I earned my BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design in 2018. In 2017, I was selected for Remake’s Made in Sri Lanka journey: to go inside garment maker communities and to learn about the true human stories behind mass-produced fashion. Coming from a fashion background with experiences both in design and ethical fashion advocacy, I understand well the interconnection among pertinent social issues like climate change, north-south inequality, labor rights, consumerism and governance. I also understand the importance and thus the challenge that come with effective communication to involve the public consciousness to bring about societal change.
For my design work in fashion, I am an aesthetic and systemic experimenter that celebrates the prestige of Chinese traditional craft with an ethical and sustainable business mindset.
